“God Is….”

By: Forrest Rivers

shade of sun and clear blue sky

God is the breath of life

And the mysterious force

That lends us this body

For a pre-determined time….

God is the sense of connection

Felt on a walk into nature

That fills your soul

With a sense of awe and wonder….

God is the word

The sound

And the snapshot of awareness

Painted on the great canvas of life….

God is the rivers

Flowing to the ocean

And snow-caped mountains

Rising to the sky….

God is the First Cause

And Last Principle

As well as the epic story

In between….

God is the grand vision

Seen in prayer

And the mantra repeated

In the depths of meditation….

God is the divine mother

The wise father

And wolves howling

To mark the start of a fresh-new season….

God is the synchronicity

The intuitive hunch

And the mystical experience

All rolled into one….

God is fireflies flashing in unison

Wild buffalo stampeding

And cows grazing on hallowed ground

Below….

God is this moment

Reminding you to stay present

On the sea

Of cosmic consciousness.

“Remembering a Spiritual Warrior”

By: Forrest Rivers

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mathew Ahmann in a crowd of demonstrators at the March on Washington

The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr is an inspiration whose spirit lives on in the depths of our hearts and minds. Rarely, do beings come along who combine a deep inner faith in God with the collective vision of peace, unity, and love. In drawing upon this faith, Dr. King achieved what most social revolutionaries could not: a pure vision of brother and sisterhood. The true power of his message came from it being rooted in the spirit of Oneness. Because it was so, forever it will always be. Dr. King will rightfully be remembered for his monumental role in ending(formal)racial apartheid in the United States. However, it is his incorruptible faith in the inevitable moral evolution of man that will remain his most enduring legacy. As Dr. King, himself, once memorably said:

“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

“Interwoven”

By: Forrest Rivers

The indescribable unity

Intricate beads of awareness

The bliss of an intertwined Cosmos

Brimming with the wisdom

Of all the sages

Throughout eternity

Stopping at nothing

To give us the gift

Of blessings on the path

To wholeness and peace….

Like the Sun’s rays

Nourishing souls

An offering

It’s selfless essence

And guiding light

Opens hearts

To the pinnacle of truth

On this epic journey

Bridging worlds

Between the form and formless….

Beyond the mind

Beyond the thoughts

Of I AM

Stands Lord Ganesha

Removal of all obstacles

Shepherding us to that place

Where Brahman reigns supreme

Awaiting our coming

To this moment

When we remember

Who we were before we were born

In these bodies

To dance and rejoice

With the Beloved once again….

In this miracle of consciousness

Heaven and earth converge

Sharing in the mysteries

Of an unfolding knowledge

A transcendent wisdom

And, an infinite stillness

The One is the many

You see,

And this drama

you believe

Is nothing more

Then the Imperishable

Discovering IT’s shining Self through you!

“Cycle of Birth and Death”

The Prince of Birth and the Prince of Death

Contended in the darkness

The Prince of Death announced:

“I am the culmination and window into the beyond. Therefore, I am more important!”

The Prince of Birth retorted:

“You may be the window into the beyond, but I am the inception point and the rite of passage back into the wisdom of form. Therefore, I am more important!”

In response, Brahman broke into laughter at the audacious claims of his two devotees

And playfully declared:

“Birth is such. Death is such. Birth or death what’s the fuss?”Death is Sure as Birth
