“Surrender”

By: Forrest Rivers

full moon along clouds

Late in the night

I cry

Asking God why

I draw so close to the light

But I can’t seem to find

My peace of mind

Late in the night

I cry

Asking God why

I hold to these illusions

That bind

Me to this worldly life

My soul yearns

To be wrapped

In your blanket of love

Safe in the heavens above

From this mess

That I’ve created

To miss the mark

Is the true meaning of hell,

This night I can tell

Will be a long one of surrender

Before you, my creator.

“Faithfully Free”

By: Forrest Rivers

green and brown rocky mountain beside river under blue and white cloudy sky during daytime

The transcendent is present in the imminent

If only you pay close enough attention

For like water faithfully flowing down the creek

Devotion is they key

To living free

And all things that you perceive

Is really your own mind

Opening to the one true reality

That sees nothing but creation acknowledging itself.

“Eyes of Creation”

By: Forrest Rivers

woman peeking over green leaf plant taken at daytime

The All Mighty Looks upon us and smiles

When we spread the good word of kindness and love

Never think for a moment that your deeds of peace go unnoticed

By the Sublime Originator and Fountainhead of truth….

The tears of hope that flow from your heart

Are reflected in the glorious waterfalls

That pour with wisdom and grace down the sunny mountainside….

The secret of believing in yourself

Is to have faith in the Cosmic Divine

The teachings of the Most High are hidden:

Behind every rock face

Ingrained in the souls of all wild beings

And present on the eternal tree tops….

The Great One smiles upon us all

When we serve IT with truth, devotion and faith

You are a child of love in the Creator’s eyes.

“Flow”

By: Forrest Rivers

selective focus grayscale photography of owl

All is born

And all falls away

In time

All emotions

Are like waves

Cresting upon

The ocean of life

All thoughts

Are just forms

Receding into

The stillness of night

Be like an owl:

Watch

Observe

And take notice

But don’t grasp too tight….

For the flow

Of this moment

Stops for no one

Let go,

Let the love of God

Guide us.

“Mountain Healer”

By: Forrest Rivers

woman in red and black plaid jacket and blue denim jeans standing on brown grass field

If the spirit of God is life

Then the mountain top represents

The pinnacle of IT’s field of light

Send the sick up there,

For they will be cured of all their ailments at once

Send the dying up there,

For they will be illumined by the mystery that soon awaits them

Send the poor up there,

For they will find they already prosper in the eyes of the Lord

Send the rich up there,

For they will learn their attachments to wealth breeds selfish pride

Send the fools up there,

For they will find answers to life’s questions and no longer be blind

Send the wise up there,

For they will see the beauty of the mountains within their own minds

Send everyone who suffers up there,

For they will find the meaning that has escaped them until now.
