“Dying into Life”

gold bell hanging on brown wooden wall

Birth dies into life

Death gives birth again

In an endless cycle

For you to find

Your Buddha nature….

Impermanent

Like the winds of change

Yet, there is something

That still remains

Underlying our true essence….

Luminous

Like a full moon rising

And all knowing

Like eagles soaring

It is the spring lotus

Of awareness blooming…

Try to grasp it

And it slips away

Try to name it

And it defies you

This inner witness cannot be tamed

By your mind’s deceptive tricks

Of narrow conceptions….

When the fear of dying falls away

What is there left to say?

Birth and death are the same.

“The Balance of Life”

gold and silver round frame magnifying glass

Life is an exquisite balance

Of holding and letting go

Of taking and giving

There is nothing ever to grasp onto

When everything but the soul

Is impermanent

Coming and going

Just like the passing of the seasons….

So prepare to meet both birth and death

As well as success and failure

With the same calm detachment

And loving acceptance

Of all that is.

“Wisdom of the Ages”

This experience in a body that we call life is a precious opportunity and a sacred endeavor. What a blessing and what a remarkable occurrence for our souls to incarnate in a physical form time and time again. For just like the passing of the seasons, your soul infinitely spins on the cosmic wheel of oneness. Yet, this wonder of being in form can not be fully explored until we come to terms with the haunting specter of death. For as sure as the morning sunrise, we will all die and the time and manner will not be of our choosing. So, armed with this wisdom of the ages there is only one true and revered way to live: as if each day could be your last.

“Silent offerings”

yellow flowers on brown rock formation

Silent offerings

From a distant time and place

Memories keep me near

To the source

Where I can hear:

Cool water

Raining down

Jagged rock faces

Into God’s pool below

To merge with what came before

Birth and death.
